In September 2020 Hammertech completed a successful pilot with two AquaField™ units with an Omani operator. The Omani operator was very interested in the AquaField™, especially due to the PVT independency (since they never update the PVT data in multiphase meters or water-cut sensors they have) and the high accuracy on the measurement the AquaField™ provides. The operator uses different measurement philosophies, from using multiports with Coriolis, manual sampling, to water-cut meters, but all solutions give very high uncertainties when gas is present. With the AquaField™, which is a multiphase fraction and salinity meter, they would get accurate measurements even with a gas fraction up to 90% GVF.
The test was scheduled to be done in April/May 2020, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak the Hammertech service specialist were prohibited from entering Oman and leaving Norway. Just as for the qualification test with Petrobel a month earlier, this resulted in that Hammertech needed to accelerate the remote commissioning strategy and provide training to our local agent Special Oilfield Services (S.O.S.) in Oman.
Summer 2020 the two AquaField™ were shipped to the field south in Oman. Installation and commissioning were completed smoothly, quickly and with excellent collaboration between the Omani operator, S.O.S. locally and Hammertech who supported only remotely from Norway. The pilot was a success where the Omani operator were very impressed with the smooth installation process and the commissioning where no PVT inputs or any other inputs where needed for the operation of the AquaField™ meters. The AquaField™ provided critical online and real time data to the operator so they could optimize the production from their wells and increase their revenue. The two AquaField™ meters used for the pilot were of 3” size. As the process flow was less than expected it was decided to replace the 3” meters with two 1.5” meters in 2021 to get better performance.
Hammertech was very pleased to once more assist a very pleased client in optimizing their production process, reducing HSE risk with sampling and ultimately increasing their revenue.
